Arup’s David Singleton has been appointed as the new Chair of the Australian Green Infrastructure Council, following its annual general meeting at the end of 2011.
Mr Singleton takes over from Professor David Hood, the Immediate Past Chair of the Australian Green Infrastructure Council (AGIC) and a previous Chair of the Australian College of Environmental Engineers, who commenced as the National President of Engineers Australia on 1 January 2012.
Three new AGIC Board members were also elected at the Council’s general meeting.
Mr Singleton has acknowledged the strong progress made by AGIC in 2011, and has said that his attention now turns to the launch of AGIC’s sustainability rating scheme for infrastructure projects.
“The launch of the rating tool is timely, as all levels of Australian government are involved in record levels of investment in the rebuilding and upgrading of our nation’s infrastructure,” Mr Singleton said.
